John Furlong is the Director of the Brentwood Public Library in St. Louis County. He also serves as President of the Munincipal Library Corsortium of St. Louis County and serves as a Member at Large on the Executive Board of the Missouri Library Association.

Karen Robinson joined the School of Information Science & Learning Technologies in the winter of 2005 as Clinical Instructor. Her position is a blend of instructor for SISLT and practitioner in the Reference Department at the University of Missouri-St. Louis. She received her M.L.S. at Emporia State University and M.A. in Communication from Regent University.

Robinson has professional experience in academic libraries and special collections. Prior to joining the SISLT faculty she served as Head of Reference at Regent University in Virginia Beach, Virginia, and has served as head of special collections and archives in two academic libraries. She taught for The Catholic University of America's School of Library & Information Science. Her professional presentations have focused on marketing and public relations in academic libraries, and her current research is on library user instruction.


On the Job host Karen Robinson interviews John Furlong, Director of the Brentwood Public Library in St. Louis County. A graduate of MU's library science program in 1991, John also serves as the President of the Municipal Library Consortium in St. Louis and as Member-at-Large on the Executive Board of the Missouri Library Association. John talks about the renovation project completed at Brentwood Public, his professional library experiences, as well as his volunteer work in Nicaragua at the first "book-lending" public library, San Juan del Sur Biblioteca Brentwood PL
