Douglas Raber has experience as a subject specialist at SUNY/Buffalo, as director of the public library in Harvard, Illinois, and as head of reference at Monroe County Public Library in Bloomington, Indiana. He has returned to the University of Missouri after teaching at the University of Tennessee where he served as Interim Director from 2003 until 2005. His book, The Problem of Information: An Introduction to Information Science, was published in 2003 by Scarecrow Press, and he has published articles and reviews in American Libraries, Library Quarterly, Information Processing & Management, Journal of Education for Library and Information Sciences, and Public Libraries. His research is in the areas of information policy and politics, information society and culture, First Amendment and copyright, Internet filtering, and public libraries.
