Mr. Larry Nix
Larry Nix retired as Director of Public Library Development at the Wisconsin Department of Public Instruction in 2003. His library career included serving in an administrative capacity for a number of public library organizations. He considers himself to be a library history buff, and has spent much of his retirement promoting library history especially Wisconsin’s library history. He is Chair of the Steering Committee for the Wisconsin Library Heritage Center, a program of the Wisconsin Library Association Foundation. The Wisconsin Library Heritage Center maintains a website and it sponsors the Wisconsin Library Hall of Fame. Nix has an extensive collection of library memorabilia which he has displayed at libraries around Wisconsin. He maintains his own blog which he appropriately calls The Library History Buff. Larry is a stamp collector and is a Trustee of the American Philatelic Research Library in Pennsylvania. His exhibits of postal artifacts related to library history have received awards at state and national stamp shows.
